The Clubhouse operates from 3pm to 7pm - Monday to Friday. We also run special projects outside of these hours but we will always provide notices or permission slips in these instances. The Clubhouse is open to youth from Otara, between the ages of 10 - 18. Please feel free to contact the Clubhouse if there is anything further that you would like to know, or if you would like the opportunity to discuss the clubhouse further with me. I would love to have your child on board with us and look forward to receiving their permission slip so I can include them in the exciting projects that we have coming up. Kia ora ano, The Computer Clubhouse 274 provides a creative and safe after-school learning environment run by Computer Clubhouse Charity, located at Clover Park Middle School. The Computer Clubhouse enables young people to work with adult mentors to explore their own interests, develop skills, and build confidence in themselves through the use of technology. In the Clubhouse, young people can design their own music, art, videos, animations, robots, and science simulations. Under the supervision of the Clubhouse Coordinator, they have access to the Internet and can occasionally post their own original work on the Internet.
Members have access to the world-wide Computer Clubhouse Village where they can post their work and communicate with other members around the world. The Village is only available to current clubhouse members and mentors and is a safe place for kids to “hang out” on the internet. No one who is not part of the Clubhouse network has access to the village and the village is monitored to ensure no inappropriate behaviour occurs.
The mentors of the Computer Clubhouse are all members of the community or in the technology industry. They are all volunteers who are passionate about sharing their interests and skills in technology while continuing their own learning. All mentors undergo a Police vetting check prior to working in the clubhouse and there is always a coordinator on hand in the clubhouse to help with any problems. |
